La Jolla Cove, July 13, 2018: black storm-petrels

Got to the Cove at the embarrassingly late hour of 6:30, stayed for 2 hours
Conditions are right for boobies and frigatebirds, but none of either today.

A small number of black-vented and sooty shearwaters; lots of birds on the horizon.
No alcids.

Had 3 or 4 black storm-petrels.
These are the first storm-petrels I’ve seen from shore all spring and summer.
