Jacumba: 8 Harris’s Hawks, W. Wood-Pewee, Vermilion, Red-naped, Sooty Fox

An early-morning morning visit to Jacumba on 24 Oct produced all 8 continuing Harris’s Hawks, today along the south side of town behind the market. Also a late, and probably continuing, Western Wood-Pewee, continuing adult male Vermilion Flycatcher at the pond, rare-in-east-county “Sooty” Fox Sparrow, 4 continuing White-breasted Nuthatches, and regular-in-fall Red-naped Sapsucker and Scott’s Oriole. Photos in eBird report. An adult Red-shouldered Hawk was slightly east of normal at Campo. Also had 1 Hermit Thrush at Jacumba, which I mention because it is only the THIRD Hermit Thrush I’ve had in the entire county so far all fall!–Paul Lehman, San Diego
