Hooded Warbler, continuing Bendire’s– Borrego

Hooded Warbler, continuing Bendire’s– Borrego

By – 1:46 pm
This morning there was an adult male Hooded Warbler in the same area of mesquite scrub as the continuing Bendire’s Thrasher out at Clark Dry Lake in Borrrego. The warbler was fairly confiding, though stayed low in the dense mesquite, and was present for the full 40 minutes or so that we were at that location. We were alerted to its presence by a pair of birders (didn’t get names) who originally found the bird just prior to when we arrived. The Bendire’s Thrasher continues as well and was up singing loudly for most of the time, interspersed by fairly lengthy bouts of silence. The not rare– though uncommon and hard to find– LeConte’s Thrashers continue in the mesquite about a mile further up the road from the Bendire’s spot.A decent amount of migrants moving through this morning, with lots of warblers and a few vireos.Photos and details in eBird later.  –Aedyn and Trysten LoefkeValley Center
