OOPS, forgot to mention: It is STRONGLY recommended that one bring a scope to Mount Soledad or any potential hawkwatch site in the county. A good percent of the birds will likely be far enough away that you'll need one!! And the best place to scan from on Soledad would be the north and east sides of the cross area, so that one has a good view to both the north and especially to the east, which is where the Broad-winged flew (although today's Sharp-shinned passed by on the west flank).
