gulls & miscellanea

12:44 pm

The number of “northern” gulls seems to have increased locally in the past couple weeks. For example, at the end of 10th St. overlooking the Salt Works, I’ve seen as many as three “Thayer’s,” four Glaucous-wingeds, a couple presumed Herring X Glaucous-winged hybrids, plenty of (60+) Herrings, and 2 Short-billeds. And over at J Street there have been at least a couple Glaucous-wingeds, a Thayer’s, a Herring X Glaucous-winged, and a Short-billed.
A White-throated Sparrow continues in Nestor, two Greater White-fronted Geese continue on Admiral Baker Golf Course, and there are single new Yellow and Black-thr Gray Warblers along the east side of Mission Bay.
