FRNC–Dickcissel, Hammond’s Fly, continuing rarities, October 03, 2022

I took an early AM look around Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery today Monday October 03, 2022.An early flyover of calling (loudly) DICKCISSEL in the northeast section, eventually I tracked it down a short while later, still calling loudly, near the fence line east of the Committal Shelter.  Also a Hammond’s Flycatcher in that latter area moving around perched on grave markers.Chestnut-sided Warbler (in cypress trees at fence line just east and south of the Committal Shelter) and Ovenbird (fence line in northwest corner) continue. Also a Yellow-breasted Chat in the far southwest corner feeding in the myoporum behind the fence.  Listen out for its quiet chatting call.  And a Willow Flycatcher, silent, along the east fence line.– Gary NunnPacific Beach
