Fort Rosecrans Natl Cemetery birds, Sunday, Oct 14
Covered most of east side, plus the NW Loop area. Started on east side at northeast loop area, then worked south ward along the eastern side of the cemetery. Joined up with Gretchen Nell at the "Eucalyptus Grove" and "Wall" and we then preceded to do the the area from the Eucalyptus Grove south to the southeast loop area, then worked our way back along the western boundary of the east side, then finished up with the northwest loop area.
At 0750 there was a CASSIN's VIREO in the elms in the NE loop area on bay side; a TOWNSEND's SOLITAIRE at 0950 about 50 yds south of the Committal Shelter (east side); the continuing BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER a little after 10 am in "Gary's Elms" at the SE Loop (thank you, Allison!), a HAMMOND's FLYCATCHER along the southernmost fenceline on the east side; and a palish PALM WARBLER feeding on the ground with Chipping Sparrows and Y-r Warblers next to the pine adjacent to the Eucalyptus Grove. An amazing number (400-500 or so) of Brandt's Cormorants were seen streaming out of the Bay in single file through the entrance Channel toward the ocean at about 0915.
