As I was softly asking a hidden warbler to reveal itself, a Dickcissel flew in and landed less than 10 feet away, giving a series of single note “check” calls. When I tried reaching for my camera it gave its fart call and disappeared in a bush here (32.7370520, -117.2095788). Heavy bill, rufous in wings, and yellow center of breast. Joe
