Departed Rarities
It appears that virtually all the rarities that turned up several days ago have now disappeared and filtered out of the picture. The Prothonotary departed about 3 or so days ago and the Calliope hummingbird disappeared after Wednesday morning. Even the tailless Prairie Warbler hasn't been seen in eons although if it just moved halfway across the park it might be hard to refind! This is typical of a fall migration, during which you get pulses of migrants and vagrants over a two or three day period, when there's quite a bit to see, and those birds move on following variable-length stays, and then you get a quiet period of a number of days, which appears to be what we're in right now!
