Coronado Tropical Kingbird, Summer Tanager
Monday morning there was a Tropical Kingbird with several Cassin's in Coronado at the Ocean Gate to NAS North Island, and then a couple hours later it was by itself on utility lines and the tall golf course netting near Coronado X 8th (also along adjacent Balboa Ave.)–where I saw a T.K. back on 23 Sep, presumably the same individual. A Tropical has wintered in this area for several years now, so there's a good chance it's the same bird back for another winter. Unfortunately, it spends a fair amount of time, including roosting, on the off-limits North Island golf course. About half the time it with Cassin's, and about half the time it is by itself. A Summer Tanager was along the edge of the Coronado Golf Course at Glorietta X 6th. Summers have been in somewhat lean numbers so far this fall. After that, the morning quickly dropped down to the level of B-t Gray Warbler…Overall passerine numbers seemed low.
