continuing Pacific golden-plover TijuanaEstuary 1-30-19
This morning around 8:45, one of the continuing Pacific golden-plovers was seen among black-bellied plovers just NE of the mouth of the Tijuana River, south from Seacoast Dr. It then shifted over to a sandbar island in the channel.
Also of interest in the area were 25 white pelicans, one Caspian tern, and 5 canvasbacks. (And yes, the river still smells…)
Farther north, Maryanne Bache reported a reddish egret returning to San Eljio Lagoon on the east side of Hwy 101 just NE of the South Cardiff State Beach/Seaside parking lot.
