continuing miscellanea, continued
Today, the 13th, a full alternate Ruddy Turnstone at the J Street/Marina Parkway mudflats was a "fall" arrival, either on-time or perhaps slightly early. Glaucous-winged Gull and Reddish Egret continued there. Also in the "slightly early" category was an adult Ring-billed Gull on south San Diego Bay on 11 July. Four one-year-old Common Terns on the 11th were at J Street (3) and Emory Cove (1). Reddish Egret also continues at the San Diego River mouth. And continuing the "continuing" theme were 3 Ashy Storm-Petrels (with only 20+ Blacks) at La Jolla on the 12th, where also a basic-plumaged Common Loon was probably one of the continuing birds seen earlier in the month just to the north off Los Penasquitos. Oh, and the rare-in-summer Blue-winged Teal also 'continued" yesterday at San Dieguito Lagoon. Maybe there will be more 'new' birds later this month…
