Continuing Lewis’s woodpecker, Mount Helix migrants

By – 9:41 am
Friday morning, the wintering Lewis’s Woodpecker continues along Junipero Serra Trail at Mission Trails Regional Park, coming close now to setting the all-time late-lingering date for a wintering bird in the county. Also this morning, up on the top of Mount Helix there were about a hundred migrants in the lerpy trees and elsewhere, dominated by 25 Wilson’s and 20+ warbling vireos and 20 each of tanagers and Yellow warblers and smaller numbers of Townsend’s and hermits, etc. One Olive-sided Flycatcher and a couple pewees. Yesterday morning on Point Loma, the dominant migrant was actually Hermit warbler with about 15 total, followed by Townsend’s and Wilson’s and Western tanager. Only a single black-throated gray and a couple yellow rumps remaining.Paul Lehman, San DiegoSent from the all new AOL app for Android
