Clay-colored sparrow at UCSD, La Jolla
There’s been a clay-colored sparrow mixed in with a small flock of juncos on the little patch of grass along the pedestrian path just to the west of Geisel library, between the library and the parking spots along the south end of Hopkins Lane [so a few feet southeast of the turnabout next to the outdoor book-drops.
Parking on campus is a nightmare and expensive except on weekends [obey the 24/7 “A" only signs though], but if you have access, it’s a lovely little bird, and since it’s used to people walking past, pretty easy to get close to.
