Broad-billed Hummingbird visit tomorrow ; Coronado today: W-w Dove, T. K., Summers & Western

By {authorlink} – 1:23 pm

First off, this morning, Saturday, in Coronado, there was a White-winged Dove, continuing/returning Tropical Kingbird, and Western Tanager along Coronado Avenue/NASNI golf course edge; and elsewhere there was a continuing Summer Tanager in the line of pink-flowered eucalyptus bordering the Coronado Marriott hotel and a new, adult male Summer Tanager in the small eucalyptus grove immediately southwest of Mathewson Park.
For those interested in seeing the Carmel Valley male Broad-billed Hummingbird, the plan for tomorrow (Sunday) morning is to arrive
at the house with the feeders at 6:20 AM. The bird starts appearing within 5 minutes of that time and is most reliable in general early in the morning. As such we would like to meet all interested parties at 6:00 AM at a
nearby shopping center so we can get organized, hopefully reduce the
number of vehicles, and then depart for the home at 6:10, which is just a few minutes away. If you miss
us, you are out of luck. From Highway
56–the Ted Williams Freeway–take the Carmel Valley Road exit and go
north about 1/2 a mile to the shopping center on the east side of the
road that includes Trader Joe’s, Rite Aid, Starbucks, Panera Bread, etc.
We’ll meet near Trader Joe’s/Rite Aid at 6:00 AM. Rain or shine. In case it is raining already then, the backyard is partly covered, so you can stay dry. Your leader/coordinator tomorrow is Dan King. No need to check in with me or Dan beforehand. Just show up.
