Black-throated Green Warbler at Harry Griffin Park
Bird reported Saturday morning by Kathryn Wendel, seen about 2:00 in eucalyptus on north side of dog run with Black-throated Gray and Townsend’s Warblers. Green back, black stripes on sides, faint
facial pattern in yellow face. Facial pattern lighter in center than at edges, unlike Hermit-Townsend’s hybrids in the pictures that I could find, I saw no darkening on crown that the Hermit-Townsend’s hybrids have. No yellow extending down breast like Townsend’s, different chip note. Appears to be a first year female bird. I didn’t check for or notice if there was any yellow near the vent but a bird worth checking for.
