Black storm-petrels and miscellania

On Thursday morning the 11th, an early- morning seawatch at La Jolla produced a single-scan total of 42 black storm-petrels looking north toward the edge of La Jolla Canyon, which is their usual hotspot there. This seems a bit early for such a count. Otherwise just one Brown booby and one Sooty and 75 Black-vented shearwaters and a couple parasitic Jaegers. Farther north at San Dieguito Lagoon in Del Mar there was a Reddish egret near the mouth, the first time I've seen one in this area in about three months, as well as a spring arrival singing Blue Grosbeak.
