Thank you to everyone who contributed observations of birds and other wildlife to the 2019 City Nature Challenge: San Diego County! The official results posted by the organizers are here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2019/journal

San Diego ended up in 3rd place for number of observations. Cape Town, South Africa was 1st and La Paz, Bolivia was 2d. San Francisco came in 4th–we squeaked by them; they actually pulled ahead after the deadline for observations to be counted in the official results!

With respect to birds, San Diego had 4,629 observations of 239 species posted by 387 people. Birders did a good job!!

A special thank you to Barbara Carlson for getting information out about which species had/had not been seen and to Nancy Christensen for getting us all motivated.
