Bendire's and LeConte's Thrashers in Borrego 8-16-2020

Both birds were at the WTP Settling Ponds. I saw the Bendire's (Paul Lehman helped with the ID) in the morning, and the the LeConte's late in the day when I returned unsuccessfully hoping to see the rarer bird again.

I wouldn't advise coming out to the desert right now… it was 90 degrees at 0600, and 118 in the afternoon… plus the sand is fairly soft near the ponds on the entrance road.

But, somebody has to live out here!
