Balboa Park orioles and tanagers and Hermit

9:00 am

Monday morning between 8:00 and 8:45 a.m. in Balboa Park there was female Baltimore Oriole, female Summer tanager, 3 Western Tanagers, and a Hermit Warbler all in the area between the Japanese Tea Pavilion and the Prado Restaurant and hospitality center. Many of these birds have actually been present since late October in the same general area, though sometimes seen on the other side of the Organ Pavilion and around the edge of the International Cottages. But they seem somewhat sporadic in finding them, although this time of the morning seems to be best. Elsewhere in the park this morning there was an adult male Bullocks Oriole bordering the Comic-Con Museum, and a total of four Western Tanagers in the general Zoo parking lot area.
