Another (nonchaseable) Wedgie, 8.22

There was a Wedge-rumped Storm-Petrel foraging right along the Saltworks north shore this morning. It was actually much closer to shore than the handful of Least Storm-Petrels still scattered around the entire bay, and even crossed over the perimater road and into the northern salt ponds on two occasions. It vanished after maybe 4-5 passes when the wind picked up. I could still see two Least sitting on the water when I was leaving, but not the WRSP.
The Saltworks shoreline is only visible from the Emory Cove/Pond 11 parking area along Hwy 75. At this point you are too far away, even by scoping, to ID anything on that shoreline. But the bird was sticking very close to shore, so it would be a good idea to keep an eye out at Emory Cove or other bay viewing spots.
