Another Brewer’s + Clay-Colored (Santee – Oct 14, 2020)
Terry Hurst texted me this morning around 7:45am that she found a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW at Town Center Community Park in Santee. I was nearby and showed up soon after, and as we were watching for it a BREWER’S SPARROW popped up to join the party. Terry got good photos of both.
The location is the by baseball fields at the far west edge of the park bordering Cuyamaca St, there is a concrete path that runs between the baseball fields and lots of sparrows working the bushes and bunch grass along the fenceline. The two spizellas (as well as most of the activity) were at approx GPS coordinates 32.849612,-116.982714.
There were also 4-5 Lincoln’s Sparrows in that patch along with many Song and WC Sparrows.
