Anna's Hummingbird Hatchling

Hello all,
Not a rare announcement to say the least but I just recently moved into a new apartment in Hillcrest and was happy to discover an Anna's Hummingbird had built a nest in a small tree in the courtyard directly outside and below my front door, giving me a fantastic top down view of it.  After just over two weeks of watching and waiting, the first egg hatched today!

I got a quick glimpse at the hatchling when the mother left to remove some eggshells and bring back some water from our courtyard fountain.  I've added photos to an incidental checklist on eBird if you'd like to see the teeny tiny newborn:

Please note this was taken from above with a 500mm lens and then further cropped in post so I am no where near the nest; the stars really aligned with her placement. I've also made sure no other residents have been around when I photograph her so they will not bother her. It's been a real treat watching her comings and goings and I'm very eager to watch her raise her young these next couple weeks!
