American Robin breeding in coastal area, near Solana Highlands Park, 5/7/22

American Robin breeding in coastal area, near Solana Highlands Park, 5/7/22

This morning I observed an American Robin gathering nesting material from the ground (wet duff, and some grasses, near a sprinkler head)  near the entrance to Solana Highlands Elementary School, adjacent to Solana Highlands Park. It then flew south across Long Run Way to the East Bluff housing complex, carrying the material in its mouth.  This spot is about a mile east of Del Mar.  I have seen a pair in this area in recent years, but have not been able to confirm nesting.
I report this because I’ve been told and read that breeding of this species near the San Diego Co. coast is spotty, and rare  in recent years.
