Afternoon! We saw the female WILLIAMSON's SAPSUCKER at Stonewall Mine in the Cuyamacas this morning, continuing in the pines around the parking lot. Today we saw it about 9:30am in the sapsucker-drilled pines behind the restroom. It was last reported and photographed by the talented Ms. Zinsky on Jan. 25 in the pines over by the little museum hut. At least one LEWIS's WOODPECKER also continues in the pines to the southeast of the restroom.
A few details and a (pretty bad) ID photo on this eBird list. But Ter showed up later, so… for real photos, seek out her list!

I birded Jacumba today with Alison Davies. We found the previously reported Lark Bunting at the East end of Brawley St with the White-crown Sparrows. We found a Red-breasted Sapsucker at the South end of the wetlands adjacent to the decaying building in the huge tree between the highway and the building. A great horned owl was nearby in a dormant tree. Great day of birding eBird Reports with photos have been filed.

Thanks to Terry Hurst's photo emailed to me. Yes, this past-years bird at Cuyamaca looks like the one I saw,
I had never seen it before.

An apparent Canada/Snow goose was with a lone Canada Goose at the Lake today. Body like 'lesser' Canada, mostly white neck with black speckling and black back of neck, red bill (not much grin patch), and black on back of neck rising into head, giving head/face a white-circular appearance.
Good Birding,

This morning, Saturday, January 25, the orchard oriole was seen again at Robb Field. this immature male was first reported by Martin and Kroger on January 7. A hummingbird feeder has been hung in the small pine tree at the north end of the west Robb Field parking Lot, this is where the bird has be frequenting. It moves around between most of the small trees in the area. This is near the grass where the Rusty Blackbird was seen in December.
